Encouragement Tidbit: Accept Your Failure(s)

I wonder if the multi-millionaire real estate guru, best selling author, and real estate coach Robert Kyosaki ever felt like a failure during the years he was homeless and sleeping in his Station Wagon and in the basement of a friend’s home.  What about the very wealthy, internationally-acclaimed playwright, screen writer, and actor, Tyler Perry?  Did he ever feel like a failure in life during the years he worked a menial restaurant job and lived on the streets of Atlanta?

For the record, Mr. Kiyosaki has written that he was not looking for employment during his homeless years.  As he saw it, his job was to focus his time, energy, and whatever resources he had on accomplishing exactly what he has accomplished.  Similarly, Mr. Perry chose to be homeless so that he could save the thousands of dollars required to finance his first play which, of course, ultimately led to his present-day, global stardom.  Thus, being homeless was a part of the sacrifices both men were willing to make to achieve their goals.

But the question is did they feel like failures during their times of suffering and extreme sacrifice?  More importantly, are you feeling like a failure now because of some goal that is evading you or something you have been working and sacrificing hard to attain but have failed to attain, maybe even repeatedly?

If you are now successful, if you’ve accomplished certain goal(s) that you once failed to accomplish, then you’ll understand and agree with the closing quote.  On the other hand, if you’ve been working tirelessly and devotedly to attain your desired goals, if you’ve sacrificed or lost much in your efforts to reap the fruit of your labor, if you’ve (repeatedly) failed to reach the (level of) success that you desire, then please be encouraged in knowing that:

“The person interested in success has to learn to view failure as a healthy, inevitable part of the process of getting to the top.”   Dr. Joyce Brothers
